BÀI 5: SỰ HÒA HỢP CỦA CHỦ NGỮ VÀ ĐỘNG TỪ
I. CỦNG CỐ
Thông thường nếu chủ ngữ số ít thì động từ theo sau chia ở dạng số ít và ngược lại.
Sự hòa hợp giữa chủ ngữ và động từ không phụ thuộc vào cấu trúc bổ nghĩa.
Vídụ: The responsibilities for the project belong to you.
Ta thấy belong ko chia theo the project mà chia theo the responsibility
1. Những chủ ngữ luôn đi theo sau bởi động từ số ít.
- Đại từ bất định làm chủ ngữ
+ ( each/every)+ danh từ số ít+ động từ số it
Vídụ: each employee is expected to hand in the report by the end of this month.
+ ( one of/ each one of/ either of/ neither of) + danh từ số nhiều + động từ số ít.
Vídụ: each one of students has to bring a ruler.
+ (every/some/any/no)+ ( one/body/thing) + động từ số ít.
Vídụ: someone is waiting for you.
- Mệnh đề danh từ, danh động từ, động từ nguyên mẫu làm chủ ngữ
+ Mệnh đề danh từ
Ví dụ: who you are is not important to me.
Trong ví dụ trên ta có who you are là mệnh đề danh từ làm chủ ngữ trong câu vì thế động từ theo sau chia ở dạng số ít
+ Danh động từ.
Vídụ: Playing football is my hobby.
+ Động từ nguyên mẫu có to
Ví dụ: To take pictures in the galleries is prohibited.
- Danh từ chỉ một khoảng thời gian, cân nặng, khoảng cách, giá cả, tên của các môn học làm chủ ngữ => Vít
Ví dụ:
Five years is needed for me to complete the course.
Twenty grams of flour is the expected amount for making these cakes.
Sixteen kilometers is not too far.
Economics is the study of the management of the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services.
2. Most/ a lot/ a majority/ a minority+ of+ N sốnhiều+ V sốnhiều
Ví dụ: most of the tomatoes are too ripe.
- Liên từ kết hợp
+ Both A and B/A and B + động từ số nhiều.
Vídụ: both Hoa and Lan are my friends.
Vídụ: Water and mineral are essential for our life .
+ Either A or B/ neither A nor B/ not A but B/ not only A but also B.
Động từ chia theo chủ ngữ gần nó nhất.
Vídụ:
Either she or her sisters have to leave this house.
Neither I nor my students like French.
Not only my parents but also I love romantic music.
+ A together with B/ A as well as B/ A along with B
Động từ chia theo A(Chủ ngữ đầu tiên)
Ex: Obama, as well as his wife and children, is well- known over the world.
4. Trường hợpvới A number of và The number of.
A number of+ N số nhiều+ Vsố nhiều
Ta có A number of= many
The number of+ N sốnhiều+ V sốít.
Vídụ: A number of tourists have complained about the services of this holtel.
( nhiều khách du lịch đã phàn nànvề các dịch vụ của khách sạn này)
The number of tourists at this hotel has fallen this year.
( số lượng khách du lịch ở khách sạn này đã giảm trong năm nay)
5. Khi chủ ngữ là một cụm từ
the + N1 + giới từ + N2
Động từ chia theo N1
Vídụ: the quality of the products is examined annually.
N1 + sở hữu cách+ N2
Động từ chia theo N2
Vídụ: Mr Baker’s proposals were rejected.
6. Khi danh từ theo sau bởi mệnh đề quan hệ.
Vídụ: A repair shop which specializes in sport cars has recently contacted us.
Mệnh đề quan hệ chỉ có chức năng bổ nghĩa cho câu nên động từ chính ta chia theo danh từ đằng trước mệnh đề quan hệ.
